Emery Anderson - Studying Theater at SDSU

A San Francisco Bay Area based college student with experience in childcare, Emery Anderson is studying Theatre and Performance at San Diego State University (SDSU) and is due to study abroad at the University of Kent in Canterbury. She has a passion for musical theater and was involved in theater and advanced drama in high school. In addition, Emery Anderson was a member of the Acabellas, a capella choir club that raised money to help women escape domestic violence, and Performers for Progress.

Since beginning her post-secondary education at SDSU, Emery Anderson has worked during holidays and in the summer as a nanny for twins. Beyond creating a safe and nurturing environment for the children, she also handles feeding, bathing, and bedtime routines. She has additional experience as an instructional assistant at an elementary school in California, where she helped teachers implement lesson plans and provided aid to students for assignments.

During high school, Emery worked as a counselor-in-training and part of the kitchen staff at Waltons Grizzly Lodge in Portola, California. After attending for many years as a camper, she spent four summers working at the camp, ensuring campers completed their daily tasks, helping solve camper problems and concerns, and preparing meals. Although she is studying theater, she anticipates one day working with children in an educational capacity, either teaching music therapy or special education.
